Deafmetal: How it Works and What to Buy
Welcome to the Ultimate Deafmetal Guide — Your Starting Point for Everything Deafmetal - Written by Deafmetal USA's Audiologist
Not sure where to start when purchasing Deafmetal products? You’re in the right place. This Audiologist-written Deafmetal guide from Deafmetal USA is designed to walk you through everything you need to know — from choosing the correct fastener to exploring all the Deafmetal options available. Whether it’s your first time hearing about Deafmetal or you’re ready to upgrade, this page has you covered with expert guidance and clear, easy-to-follow advice.
STEP ONE — CHOOSE THE CORRECT FASTENER FOR YOUR HEARING DEVICE
Your journey with Deafmetal starts with selecting the right fastener based on the type of hearing device you wear. For all behind the ear (BTE) or Receiver-In-Canal (RIC) hearing aids, you will need our silicone fastener called our Deafmetal "holster". These holsters are very stretchy and simply slide over your hearing aid and have a small hole in the "tail" of the holster to which all our jewelry attaches.

Are you an off the ear cochlear implant wearer? Or do you wear a bone anchored hearing device? We have you covered as well! We have fasteners for Rondo 3, Samba 2, Kanso 2, Kanso 3, Baha, Cochlear Osia 2, Oticon Ponto and Sentio. Search our Cochlear Implant/Bone Anchored Fastener Section and choose the Fastener that is right for you. Each fastener then can easily connect to any of our Safety Chains and Safety Rings. See the fastener section for more details on which option is right for you.

STEP TWO — CHOOSE YOUR DEAFMETAL JEWELRY- WE HAVE MANY OPTIONS
One of our most popular options for jewelry is our Safety Rings. These do not require a piercing and are ear cuffs that can be widened to fit any size ear. Simply loop the safety ring through the hole in the holster (if wearing a BTE/RIC) and then connect to the ear - gently pinch into place and you now have extra hearing aid retention to keep your hearing aid safe and stylish all without requiring an ear piercing.

Another popular section is our "Safety Chain" Section. Here, we have chains in different lengths from 4 cm to 13 cm. These chains have jewelry clasps on both ends. One end clasps onto the fastener (holster if BTE/RIC and/or any of our CI fasteners) and then the other end clasps onto a traditional earring back so that you can wear your own earrings with our Deafmetal safety chains. You are basically creating your own Deafmetal jewelry with our safety chains as they combine with your earring to create a safety solution and some style to your hearing device. See below for link.

Our earrings and pendant sections are perfect for anyone ready to try something new. Our hearing device jewelry is designed for mixing and matching and discovering your next signature style. Our earrings (most of them) are connected to the fastener via a chain and are fun, fearless earrings designed to add personality to your wardrobe while simultaneously adding extra hearing device retention.
We also have Deafmetal safety necklaces designed to be worn with two silicone holsters.
For people who are allergic to silvers or simply wanting a non metal option for extra security, we now have our Deafmetal insurance clips which come with a free holster. These are great for active individuals for activities where hearing devices may be bumped off (think exercise, occupational tasks, everyday activities such as brushing hair) or for anytime the fear of losing an aid is eminent. These affordable clips offer extra protection and are a great peace of mind option for any age!
